Power tools by design are built to make every job around the house easier. While there are moments when a manual saw will be effective, or even preferable, a table saw is going to make faster, cleaner cuts. The same is true for tools like power drills and nail guns. Don’t wait until you are mid-project to figure this out. Do yourself a favor and always keep some basic power tools on hand. The main thing to consider when purchasing power tools is what the tool will be used for. Larger construction projects require more durable and powerful tools when compared to those used for minor household projects. The skill level of the laborer should also be taken into account, as professional-grade tools can be dangerous when wielded by amateur home owners. Price point will also play a role, but don’t discount seemingly overpriced power tools if they come in useful tool kit bundles. The following list includes tools that homeowners will access regularly in maintaining and upgrading their homes or c...

The Falcons won the toss to start the game and elected to receive. They made it

The Falcons won the toss to start the game and elected to receive. They made it into Buccaneer territory and at the 35-yard line brought in an extra tackle in Ty Sambrailo, announcing him as eligible. Quarterback Matt Ryan actually threw him the ball, though and he ended up taking the ball in for the score, giving Atlanta an early 7-0 lead. The Bucs’ first series ended quickly when running back Ronald Jones fumbled the ball on the first play and Atlanta recovered at the Bucs’ 29-yard line. The Falcons would only end up getting a field goal out of it though as the defense held. The next series for the Bucs didn’t end in points either, despite a great 37-yard catch by wide receiver Breshad Perriman to get Tampa Bay into Atlanta territory. They’d end up settling for a 49-yard field goal attempt though, which was unsuccessful, leaving the score 10-0 with 4:34 left to go in the first quarter. The teams traded punts before Atlanta had fourth-down and one at the Bucs’ 31-yard line. They went for it and defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh caught running back Devonta Freeman in the backfield to stand the Falcons up. The Bucs took over on downs as the quarter expired. Tampa Bay capitalized on...

AB and BG Staffing Inc BGSF. Wall Street is at a record high on a stupendous Santa rally. U.S.-Sino trade deal hopes and solid U.S. economic activity have been fueling the momentum. But overvaluation worries and earnings weakness may emerge as key concerns in 2020. And investors can definitely look for some quality picks to allay such worries. Return on equity is an investor-favorite metric when it comes to cherry picking quality stocks. But ROE doesn’t always tell the complete story and an investor might get fooled by picking stocks based on this number.  Thus, taking a step beyond the basic ROE and analyzing it at an advanced level or applying the DuPont technique seems to be an intriguing idea. The DuPont analysis allows investors to assess the elements that play a dominant role in any change in ROE. It can help investors to separate companies having higher margins from those having a high turnover. For example, high-end fashion brands generally survive on high margin as comp...

In theory, drip coffee makers are dead simple machines. You give them grounds, hit them with hot water, and then let gravity and time do the rest. It sounds easy, but it’s not. Most drip coffee makers fail miserably at this basic task — some because they don’t get water hot enough or brew too slowly. Others overcompensate, and end up scalding their grounds completely. Few drip coffee makers have what it takes to deliver drip coffee at its best. There are noteworthy exceptions, and whether you prefer to brew iced coffee, perfect lattes or freshly ground coffee, you don’t need to spend a mint to get the best coffee maker. After alarming reports of microplastic pollution in oceans and beaches, the global scientific community intensified its focus into this area. Researchers have since found evidence of microplastic contamination everywhere—in our lakes and rivers, beverages and food supplies. Dr. Natalia Ivleva, a researcher with the Technical University of Munich (TUM), has developed new analytical methods for the identification and quantification of microplastic. In this interview, she shares her latest findings. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-1449240174198-2′); }); According to current definitions, microplastic is any piece of plastic measuring five millimeters in size down to one micrometer, that is one-thousandth of a millimeter. Plastic particles that are smaller—from one micrometer down to 100 nanometers—are defined as sub-microplastic. Particles below 100 nm are called nanoplastic. Studies show, that most of the plastic particles possess sizes in lower micrometer range. Both microplastics and nanoplastics are usually formed by the breakdown of larger pieces of plastic—for example, from shopping bags to the wear and tear on a car’s tires or w...

TAIPEI, Taiwan, April 4, 2019 — Award-winning design company and pioneer of the first modern Greenland-style paddles with exchangeable tips, GEARLAB introduces its latest high-performance open-water excursion paddle to North America. The GEARLAB Greenland paddle’s engineering provides for long range, efficiency, and precision while reducing injury and fatigue. GEARLAB paddles and accessories use ancient wisdom and modern materials, fusing efficiency and technology like no other design in the world. The Kalleq (from the Inuit word for lightning), with its signature patent-pending swappable paddle tip, is now 13.5 percent lighter than its top-selling Akiak, (750g ± 30g in the 220cm paddle) and the leaner edge radius is reduced from 2mm to 1.1mm, which makes for a substantial improvement in performance. The paddle is slightly wider at 8.8cm/3.5 inch and the exchangeable tips are slightly smaller and lighter. This full seamless carbon paddle is a newly engineered hybrid that’s noticeably faster than former models. The Kalleq’s new sharper edge improves water splicing efficiency and paddling stability. The longer paddling surface area improves paddling efficiency per stroke compared ...

Laser cutting metal is nothing new, but recently it’s becoming more and more accessible to the

Laser cutting metal is nothing new, but recently it’s becoming more and more accessible to the average hobbyist. Follow these simple guidelines to design your first laser cut metal part! In short, a laser is a focused beam of light, concentrating a lot of energy on a very small area. When this happens, material in front of a laser will burn, melt, or vaporize, making a hole. Add some CNC to that, and you get a machine that can cut or engrave very intricate parts made of wood, plastic, rubber, metal, foam, or other materials. Every material has its limitations and benefits when comes to a laser cutting. For instance, you may think that a laser can cut through anything, but that’s simply not the case. Not every material is suitable for laser cutting. That’s because every material requires a particular amount of energy to be cut. For example, the energy needed to cut through paper is a lot less than the energy needed for a 20-mm thick steel plate. Keep this in mind when buying a laser or ordering through a laser cutting service. Always check the laser’s power or at least what materials it can cut. As a reference, a 40-W laser can cut through paper, cardboard, foam, and thin p...

Water companies are facing the biggest clampdown since privatisation three decades ago after the industry regulator

Water companies are facing the biggest clampdown since privatisation three decades ago after the industry regulator imposed strict limits on investor payouts. Ofwat said the sharp reduction in the return on capital allowed would reduce bills by an average of £50 per household, or 12 per cent, over the next five years, although some of that would be absorbed by inflation. The regulator is also demanding that the 10 large regional water and sewage companies and seven smaller water suppliers lower debt levels. Ofwat has also set the companies a target to reduce water leaks by 16 per cent between 2020 and 2025, saving an amount of water equivalent to the needs of the population of Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield. “Today we’re firing the starting gun on the transformation of the water industry backed by a major investment programme to deliver new, improved services for customers and the environment and resilience for generations to come,” said Rachel Fletcher, chief executive of Ofwat. The final ruling is part of a complex regulatory process that involves reaching individual settlements with each water company over a five-year period. Since its draft dete...
