Those listed as being charged are innocent until being proven guilty: People vs. Robert Vern McRorie: Evading an Officer with Willful Disregard, a felony with Special Allegations; Resisting Arrest, a misdemeanor. Brief history: A deputy was on patrol in a marked uniform and marked vehicle conducting traffic enforcement. He observed defendant’s vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy attempted an enforcement stop by activating his emergency lights; the vehicle failed to pull over. The deputy then activated his siren; the vehicle still failed to pull over, and increased its speed to around 100 miles per hour. The high speed pursuit lasted for about 13 miles, with the defendant driving across yellow lines, on the wrong side of the road, and ran a stop sign. The defendant eventually abandoned his vehicle and the deputy pursued him on foot. The defendant jumped into a creek and tried to escape.
